Wow! Brett Favre is a Jet. I didn't see that coming. Of course, I didn't see Brett coming out of retirement, either. I don't get his decision to come out of retirement.
Let's look at what he gave up.
Brett had a chance to not get up and go to work everyday. He could sleep in, walk around in his underwear all day, watch Hogan's Heroes reruns on TV, take a trip anytime he wanted, play with his kids, take his dog to the park, play golf, cruise for porn on the internet. In other words, he could do whatever the heck he wanted any time because he didn't have to go to work!!!
How many of us would give up our first born child to not have to go to work everyday? Heck, I would. (Sorry, Bran...but come on, it's a chance to not have to go to work!!!)
And the Packers were going to pay him millions of dollars to not work. So, not only was he not going to have to work, but he was going to get extra money to continue to not work. Can't he see how wrong it is to give that up? How many of us can get that kind of deal? Not me. I was planning to retire in 15 months. I even told my boss I was out in 15 months. Then one day I had to go in and tell him I needed to stay an extra 18 -24 months because my husband decided to go back to school. If I had Brett Favre's situation, the conversation would have gone like this:
Mona - Hi, Brian. Hey, I can't retire in 15 months because the hubby decided to go back to school and it's going to take longer than I thought it would.
Mona's Boss - Oh Mona, wow, we've already planned to move on without you. I'll tell you what, we'll give you extra money to retire when you originally planned.
Mona - I'll take it.
But no, the conversation went like this:
Mona - Hi, Brian. Hey, I can't retire in 15 months because the hubby decided to go back to school and it's going to take longer than I thought it would.
Mona's Boss - Wow, I'm sorry. It really sucks to be you, doesn't it?
Mona - Yea, it really does.
Brett had it all...didn't have to work, was famous, was going to get paid extra to stay home and not work. And he gave it all up. I'm sorry...that's just wrong.
