It's all about Equality

The hubby and I went to the Gay Rights Rally at the State Capitol today. It was the hubby's first protest rally. Me, heck, I started participating in protests in 6th grade when all of the 6th grade girls at my school staged a "pants in" to protest a rule prohibiting us from wearing pants to school. But that's a story for a different blog. Today was all about equal rights for my gay and lesbian friends.

There were a lot of people and a lot of great signs. Here are a few pics of the signs and people around us.

There were some great speeches. I was particularly pleased to hear my buddy (and former board member), State Senator Darrell Steinberg, speak. It was also excellent to hear Gloria Allred speak. By far, though, the best part was Margaret Cho. Margaret wrote a little song after Prop 8 passed and she sang it for us today. Fortunately, someone already put it up on YouTube. (Thanks to the wonderful person who recorded this and put in on YouTube for us all to enjoy!)
